Bob Bembridge writes copy that’s easy to read and gets to the point.

For the past 15 years he’s written marketing and PR materials for business and government clients such as Macro 4, The Hillier Group, and Rutgers Cooperative Extension. He’s written website copy, press releases, features, newsletters, annual reports, brochures, fact sheets, staff bios, and ads. His career spans copywriting, public relations, community affairs, and journalism. He’s experienced in feature writing, research and interviewing, news writing, and copy editing.

Bembridge’s articles have been published in the New York Times, Courier-News, Paterson Evening News, New Jersey Outdoors, National Wetlands Newsletter, Architecture New Jersey, the Sandpaper, and Landscape Management.

Prior to working as a freelance commercial writer, Bembridge was public relations manager for the New Jersey Pinelands Commission (1981-1991). In addition to managing the commission’s public information and education program, he wrote commission news releases, annual reports, and newsletters. He edited scientific research papers and regulatory documents and coproduced a documentary film, which was nominated for a New York regional Emmy award in 1989.

Bembridge worked for two New York PR firms (1980-1981), where he serviced public relations accounts for American Invsco, NKK (Nippon Kokan), the Republic of Korea, and the New Jersey Conservation Foundation. He wrote news releases, fact sheets, position papers, and synopses of political and economic issues.

He served as press secretary to a New Jersey Congressional candidate (1980) after completing his M.A. in International Communication (1979) at American University’s School of International Service. While attending graduate school, Bembridge worked as a researcher at the Woodrow Wilson International Center for Scholars, where he collected data on network television coverage of the Vietnam War.

Bembridge reported on municipal government and school boards for the Paterson Evening News (1974-1975). He started his career as a reporter for the Pacifica Tribune (1973-1974), where he covered the police beat and local school boards.

He has a B.A. in English and Journalism (1973) from Rutgers University.
